Work Contract for the Airport Terminal allocated

How the administration of the Berlin Ariports announced offically the contract to build the airport terminal of the new Berlin Brandenburt International BBI Airport is allocated. The allowance for the 220 meters long and 180 meters wide terminal and the 720 m long main pier was given to the BAM Deutschland GmbH in Stuttgart. The 300 m long low-cost-carrier piers will be constructed by a consortium of Max Bögl and Alpine Bau Deutschland.  Start of the construction should be July. The Terminal should be finished for the opening of the airport in 2011.

Expansion of Airport Berlin-Brandenburg-Iinternational ist on time

The Expansion of the Airport Berlin Schoenefeld to the Airport Berlin-Brandenburg-International (BBI) is on time, so says Thomas Weyer, member of  the management. Despite the order for the construction of the new terminal still is not placed, the works shall start in Juli 2008. BBI will be finished and opened in November 2011, as planed.
We will see….. Originally the Airport should have been finised in 2006 already. But mistakes and sloppiness in planning and calls for bid, as well as claims and law-suits of an initiave to avoid the airport, delayed the start of the construction again and again

Airport gets even bigger
Noch in Bau und schon zu klein: Der Terminal in Schönefeld wird bereits zur Flughafeneröffnung erweitert. In Tegel wird es für die Piloten allmählich eng.
Der neue Flughafen Berlin-Brandenburg International (BBI) in Schönefeld wird bereits zum Start größer als zunächst geplant und kann damit noch mehr Passagiere aufnehmen. Das Abfertigungsgebäude soll nach Angaben der Flughafengesellschaft von Anfang an drei Gebäudeteile erhalten, wie es auch bereits genehmigt ist. Bisher waren zur geplanten Betriebsaufnahme im November 2011 nur zwei Gebäudekomplexe vorgesehen. Die Gesamtkosten sollen dadurch nach Angaben von Fachleuten um weniger als 50 Millionen Euro steigen.

Damit hat die Flughafengesellschaft die Baupläne bereits zum zweiten Mal erweitert. Ursprünglich war nur ein Gebäude geplant. Nach der Zunahme vor allem bei den Billigfluggesellschaften entschieden sich die Planer jedoch dafür, den ersten Flügelbau sofort mitzubauen. . >>>
